Dagaland

Dagaland is the name of a large region located at the very center of the continent. It is a lush land tucked within a massive caldera, with towering volcanoes and bubbling hotsprings throughout. The water and ground stay warm year round, so many varieties of plants and animals are endemic to this region. Dagaland is surrounded by the Central Desert and is almost fully enclosed by the Dagas, a series of high ridges forming the boundary of the region and from which it gets its name. It has an approximate population of 6000 people, nearly half of which live in the capitol and largest city of Vohm. Dagaland was first populated by the Oronites circa 450. They founded the Kingdom of Padagaj and built several ancient stone cities whos ruins can still be seen today. The ancient Oronites established trade routes which reached out to many corners of the continent, solidifying themselves as one of the wealthiest kingdoms of the ancient world. During the latter centuries of the Thousand Year War between Merengia and Talas, the Kingdom of Padagaj found it harder and harder to remain neutral, eventually being attacked by both kingdoms who were at that point considerably stronger than Padagaj. The colonization of the Austral Oronites by the Tzaigonians further weakened the kingdom, until by the middle of the fourth millenium the once-proud Kingdom of Padagaj was reduced to a collection of jungle villages loosely governed by the Vohmeer of Vohm.
