Eeod Gap
The Eeod Gap is a wide, natural break between the Alsats and Lengian mountain ranges. The Gap forms the easternmost region claimed by the Republic of Eeod. The Eeod Gap has a relatively high elevation compared to the rest of Eeod which lies along the western coast of the continent.
Climate
The Eeod Gap has a vairied climate throughout the year. In Winter and Hibern, moist air from the unfrozen Bay of Tittin rises up the Gable Valley to the Gap and creates heavy bay-effect snowfalls that can bury the region in several feet of snow. Most of the snowmelt on the western side of the Eeod Gap finds its way down the valley in streams and rivers in Spring, but the middle and eastern portions of the Gap are too flat for most of the runoff to find its way downhill so the ground gets very muddy and swampy, making passage through the Gap very difficult, even on horseback. Summer sees an explosion of grasses and wildflowers which take advantage of the rich, moist soil and hot, scorching days. By Sunfall the grasses and wildflowers dry out, creating ripe conditions for prairie fires to break out and spread. Autumn sees wild temperature swings, with nights dropping well below freezing. Snow starts accumulating toward the end of Autumn as Winter once again locks the region in heavy snow.
Economic Viability
The extreme temperature variations and periods of mud, snow, and drought, do not allow for any agriculture in the region. Instead, the lush grassland is taken advantage of in late Spring and early Summer by various nomadic groups which use the verdant prairie to graze their livestock. This gathering time of several different tribes is a yearly festival known as Bamkhorra, in which the exchange of animals, handicrafts, and tradeable goods contributes to the health and economic wellbeing of the various tribes.
