Blackwell Goats
Edwin Blackwell made his way across the ledge, fastening rope to a protruding spire of stone for those who would follow. He leaned against the cliff face to catch his breath, and something huge slammed into the ledge next to him, knocking him off balance. Edwin had no memory of what followed, but those below told how a great creature, almost as large as a horse with wicked curved horns, casually brushed Edwin off the ledge. It was only because of the rope he had just attached that he survived. These goats, later named after their unfortunate "discoverer," quickly became a point of interest to the refugees. As more of the valley was explored subspecies were discovered, although colloquially they are all know as Blackwell Goats. Through the dedicated efforts of early Mountain Scouts, a few of these goats would be domesticated and used as mounts and beasts of burden. There would be some interbreeding between these goats and the goats brought by the refugees, creating a second slightly smaller species used primarily for meat.Kiran Blackwell-Biography of Lord Fenton Caius
