Zaigon

"Such an ancient city deserves to be more than the headquarters of a corrupt cluster of scientists. The Kerekans have no idea what history has left for them."
— the Chronicler
The capital of Kerekos, Zaigon has stood longer than recorded history. Named for the warlord Zai, who laid claim to it during the isl's Dark History, it has become the bastian of the Kerek League and the epicenter of Kerekan society.

Government

Zaigon is governed by the League, and its laws and security are enforced by Zaigon's Light, a division of the Defense Discipline. While the Master of Defense ultimately oversees Zaigon's Light, they are more directly led by Kerekos' Shield. Zaigon's Light enforces curfews, tracks down and punishes criminals, and aids civilians in the event of disasters.

Architecture

Zaigon has been destroyed and rebuilt over a dozen times during its existence. The present settlement was built upon structures both old and new. These older buildings carry traces of their original cultures, but the Masters have taken great pains to erase marks left by the warlords who controlled it in the past. The Master of Architecture is in charge of these efforts, and preset-day Zaigon is a maze of dark, towering buildings bereft of frills and ornate designs. Most of the city is blockish and linear, with little to differentiate one biulding from the next. The center of the city is more elaborate; after all, the Master want the areas they work in to be beautiful, and they want the rest of Zaigon to associate extravagance with mastery in the League.

Geography and Climate

Zaigon enjoys a mild climate, nestled as it is between the mountains and coast. The lack of weather has resulted in several droughts over the centuries, but an expansive network of aqueducts carries water to the city from Kerekos' interior.

Nice, I liked your details about the local architecture and the character of the settlement. I do wonder why there are curfews - are there rebels or are the criminals just that big of a problem?

Thank you for reading! This is still a very young world and I have lots of details to work out, but Kerekos maintains their "enlighted" society with a bit of an iron fist. You know, the whole "It's for your own good and the good of society" schtick. An illusion of freedom.
