The Vau

Welcome to The Vau, the central location of the series: Time of the Paragons. This is the tale of the events surrounding the dual system of Bora and Kvum, a red and brown dwarf star respectively, and the four habitable moons orbiting Kvum, known as The Vau. These moons are: Shudo, Shuerash, Shusheva, and Shuuyer.   These worlds are no ordinary celestial bodies, however. Indeed, some form of sentience, if not outright sapience, radiates from the two forces, which have long been worshipped by the peoples of The Vau as gods. The different peoples have their different interpretations and practices, but all faiths hold Bora and Kvum in highest regard. All, however, fear Crom, the force of chaos that long ago ripped Bora and Kvum apart from each other, leaving the system with the two tiny stars, rather than one larger proper star as other systems have.   Twenty years before present, there was a great war that swept the four worlds. Called the Great Vauan War, it was fought between the forces of the Alliance and the Coalition. The Coalition was victorious, and now governs most of the Vau, calling itself the Dominion. However, this defeat was not thorough, and the forces of the Alliance are rallying, building new secret agreements and pacts, steadily becoming the Dase, who preach peviuiri superiority over all, and seek the conquest and subjugation, if not eradication, of all the other peoples of The Vau.   Throughout the history of The Vau, since the arrival of the peviuir, events have been largely driven by divinely chosen beings named Paragons, and their opposites, the Contras. Everytime Bora or Kvum choose a new Paragon, their opposite, a Contra, is created. Paragons are chosen as the beings most capable of positively affecting events in The Vau. They must choose wisely, for the Contra, who it is believed are creations of Crom, will try to thwart their missions.   Something, however, has changed. Just over a year after the end of the Great Vauan War, the Contra of Kvum's Paragon has risen as the leader of the Dase. Meanwhile, the current Paragons have forsaken their missions, disillusioned by the war and its aftermath. Yet, they are not alone. More Paragons have appeared. How they came by their gifts is unknown, but undeniable. Perhaps this new batch of young demigods will be just what the Vau needs to prevent a second Great Vauan War, and hopefully save millions.
