Storm Watch Towers
Several towers in the world, known as Storm Watch Towers, are often manned by magic users or those with keen eyesight. They are most commonly found in the Islands and along the coastline of the mainland. These towers were built after the Umbral Hurricane decimated the Islands of the Veil. Many have complex lighting systems that can signal over long distances if bad weather is headed towards land. These lookout points serve as strategic watch points to look out for raiders on the horizon as well. They house small units of about six people and can hold up to twelve.
These towers have been instrumental in protecting the people of the Islands. Early warnings of raiders and storms have significantly reduced the loss of life. They are also used to signal drifting tides of Umbral water encroaching on land. Many owe their lives to those who watch the horizions.
The towers also have a rune system allowing them to send important messages to those in need, should a storm creep up quickly or worse, something more dire occur. All Storm Watch Towers keep detailed logs dating back many years. These records are invaluable as they helped to predict storms patterns.
The Storm Watch Towers are constructed from stone and mortar and are enchanted with stormlight stones from the Temples of Edarr. These towers are very recognizble from a distance. The grey stone exteriors and blue pointed roofs are signature part their design. They are symbol of Hope and protection.
Social Impact
THe Towers have saved countless lives and prevented raids from Portcross taking more from being as successful as they once were. Now the Raiders from Portcross act more strategically when attacking the islancs there are still places where there are gaps.
