The Killing Reef

The Killing Reef is the name for a 100-mile reef in the Veil. Sections of the reef seemingly appear stained red. They gained this name for the fact, Sharken or Shark Folk whelp their pups here.

Topography

The reef is massive, and can be in most parts 30 to 100 feet down under the water. The are various types of coral and underwater caves. There are also scattered shipwrecks that line areas in and around the reef.

Culture

Sharkfolk are instinctually aggressive and believe that anything can be accomplished through brute strength, determination, and ferocity. They often compare their kill counts with other warrior races and respect those with higher kill counts than themselves. Sharkfolk tends to bully those weaker than themselves. They are often chaotic evil, but those of good alignments vent their aggressive natures through non-hostile competitions of strength.

History

The Killing Reef is an old place that has taken thousands of years to grow.  The Shark Folk keep a treaty with the Tritons and the Tortalls have an undersea Alliance to protect and serve one another. Many make homes of Shipwrecks and do not often venture above water to aid in land dweller business. Though the arrival of the Umbral Water has prompted some to seek out a solution above water since the Umbral Water has affected parts if the reefs and other undersea areas.
