The War of the Sun and the Moon

Selenia has a long and storied history, one of the most interesting and captivating stories being that of the Sun and Moon. According to legend, the Moon King made a wish that cast the continent into complete darkness for 15 consecutive days each year. The darkness brings with it an eerie and unsettling atmosphere, breeding new madness and causing all manner of strange and terrifying things to emerge in the land. During these dark days, vampires are said to creep through the lands, seeking to prey on the living. Tales of wailing banshees and a strange hunt also abound, instilling fear and dread in the hearts of the people. As a result, most people choose to stay indoors, and towns enforce strict curfews during Nightfall. The Sun King, in his bid to protect his people from the dangers of the darkness, provides refuge to those he can in the Craglands. Meanwhile, the Moon King remains in Shaunala, where he has moved the city of stars. The true cause of this bitter rivalry between the Sun and Moon remains shrouded in mystery, but what is certain is that darkness falls every year, and the monsters come out to play. Despite the fear that grips the people during these dark days, some are brave enough to venture out into the darkness. These adventurers are often skilled hunters and warriors, equipped with the knowledge and weapons to defend themselves against the creatures that roam the land. In the end, the darkness comes to an end, and the light of the Sun once again shines on Selenia. The people emerge from their homes, relieved to have survived another year of Nightfall, and hopeful that they will be able to do so again in the years to come.
