Nedward had money. Daddy was headmaster of a successful school and Ned was on his way to coasting towards an easy doctorate. But you gotta do something, so he decided to go on a research trip that took him near a small town. This research took him into some dangerous areas, so he paid a woman named Sparrowhawk to guard him. They wandered right into a vermin infested place where they met Oakley. Things went sideways and the new companions barely got out in one piece. Dragging their half-dead asses out of there, they ended up on the doorstep of the farm where Hale Bigman lived and worked. The farm owner had Hale put us up in the barn and watch over them. In the state they were in, they were no match for what came out of the night. Ned and his companions were dragged into the Underdark. I guess the money is all gone, now...
