Bastion City

Bastion is a large diverse city found on the Northern coast of France and is so called due to the large bastion-like wall surrounding the city.  The city of Bastion has 3 official districts and multiple smaller districts as well as some unofficial areas.  While the city has not been directly hit by any artillery the fields to the east are cratered and scarred with shell holes and trenches.   District 1: The Core; The core of the city is where all major political buildings can be found such as courts, police stations, jails, merchants guild headquarters, political officials offices, etc. and is directly connected to both other districts via a large bridge.  The Northern most point of this island is home to political offices and the streets that lead south on this island have headquarters of local guilds and businesses.  Following south a small bridge leads to a separate circular island which is home to a large public amphitheater used for public shows and performances in addition to some public trials and town meetings.   District 2: The Commons; This district is the main residential area home to private domiciles, minor corner stores, parks, etc. and this area is often seen as a very peaceful and quieter part of town as merchants only travel through that are to get to The Mercantile.  This district is quiet with houses lining the streets and stores or cafes scattered amongst the homes and parks that form this serene picturesque area.  This area is also home to one of three military installations in the city being a set of officers barracks which stand against the Northern waterfront and are walled from the rest of the Commons District.   District 3: The Mercantile; This district is the main financial district and is home to market stalls, stores, financial intuitions, and markets.  Traders and vendors of all types can be found here though those that sell within the cities walls must have a permit from the Merchants Guild or face loss of all wares, jail time, and fines.  The streets of the Mercantile District are rarely quiet as people are always wandering about and merchants call from every corner with deals and items.  Even during the night the streets are still packed with attendees of the night market where more exotic items can be found, and if the rumors are true contraband items.  In addition to stores banks and restaurants can be found in this district often along the larger paths and usually with high price dividends and interest rates.  To the North of the Mercantile District is a navy lighthouse that in addition to serving as a military installation also serves as the cities lighthouse for vessels docking and disembarking.  Directly to the south of the Mercantile District lies the Military District an unofficial district that houses standard barracks, training grounds, armories, and other military buildings, and is also home to the highest concentration of military members in the city along with the city militia and police forces.   The Outer Limits; Directly outside the walls of the city are market stalls from reliable vendors and unreliable vendors as well as minor Gypsy camps set up by refugees and those forced from their towns.  Beggars are a common site on paths from the city as are merchants pedaling minor wares and ramshackle tents that serve as homes for those displaced by the war.  Far to the East of the city stands multiple trench lines that are heavily reinforced as this city acts as a major troop and trade hub that should it fall to the axis forces could result in loss of income to the allies.
