Mulhessen

Hundreds of years ago, Mulhussen was a major regional city. It built its power on natural resources: specifically gold veins and fertile farmland.
A hundred years ago, a famine caused the city to spend heavily from their reserves. Shortly after, the gold ran out, and Mulhessen's leading house (House Dallard) suffered from severe infighting. For years, Lady Lindsay Dallard desperately managed to keep the peace, but she then died under mysterious circumstances. Immediately after her death, her son Ramsey announced himself Lord of the House, and seceeded from Sembia. Most of the city followed with him under promise of reduced tithes. Her daughter Chelsea asked Exaltia for assistance.
As Ramsey Dallard laid siege to Chelsea Dallard, King Achenar Aubirrel sent his army outside the city and laid siege to all of Mulhessen. For days, the Dallard forces depleted themselves while the Iron Fang waited. Finally, after what appeared to be the final battle between the Dallard forces, the Aubirrel army invaded and destroyed both armies. With little resistance, they burned the city to the ground and left. "They've nothing left to harvest", Achenar supposedly said.
While the surviving city walls often give travelers the impression of a city, closer inspection reveals that it is mostly ruins and small towns. Most of the old city's basements and crypts have been raided many times over, though rumors always abound of hidden treasure buried in unfound catacombs.
Today, Mulhessen is a collection of towns and villages that primarily deal in farming. They are often the target of barbarian raids.
