The House of the Dragon

For years, the Castore family was known as the House of the Owl, partially due to their red hair. However, after Bolivar Castore slayed Tyralgarde the Invincible, the family rebranded itself as the House of the Dragon.
Previously, the city was a hub of agriculture. However, with the windfall Hoard of Tyralgarde, Lady Cynthia Castore was quick to invest in magic and trade.
Within a decade, dozens of now elite magical colleges were founded. Many magi built towers nearby. In exchange, the magicians helped to shape the trade winds on the Sea of Fallen Stars and carve deep channels into the seafloor. With a now superior port, favorable winds to Westgate, and river access to both The Golden Grove and Stormfall: it is the economic power of the region.
Selgaunt is now the leading economic power of Sembia, and home to many powerful magicians.
