The Workforce

Out of Sight, Out of Mind...

The Workforce is a neutral law enforcement organization within The Web that seeks to maintain a status quo between the organizations in The Web and The Commonwealth of Alternative Religion . Both of these groups are remarkably powerful in their own right. Should either get ahead of the other, it could lead to the destruction of all these organizations have built.   The Workforce is widely considered a branch of The Discordance, though the discordians have never claimed it. If they are, it woild be very out of character for them not to boast about it. Their is a connection. The Discordance gets away with far more than anyone else, and it's likely The Workforce takes advantage of how easily The Discordance can infiltrate other organizations.   The Workforce refuses to use names, instead they use terms related to whatever profession they use to infiltrate organizations around the world. The Janitor, who happens to run the organization, will always be a janitor. They excell at their profession, often making themselves invaluable to whoever they work for, lulling them into a false sense if security.

Operation

The Workforce focuses on infiltration and observation. They keep a close eye on every organization they can, watching for any indication of someone breaking the rules. Their psychic abilities allow them to mask their true appearance, giving then a means of escape should they discovered, as well as a way of putting the blame on others.   Observation can take years. It's a never ending job. When they finally encounter a problem, they strike. Should someone attempt to break the rules, regardless of who they are or how high up their position is, they are marked for death.   The Workforce seeks to operate with speed and efficiency. The target is unlikely to feel a thing, and even less likely to see it coming. There must be indisputable proof of their violation. Past that, nothing has ever stopped a member from accomplishing the task.

One or Many?

A common question among the very few who know about The Workforce is whether their names are used by an individual or by a group. It's rare to hear of two agents operating with The Painter at the same times for example. The organizations know for a fact that agents operate in their midst, but have no way of isolating them.   This leads to most simply choosing to put it out of their mind. If one stays on the straight and narrow, they won't need to worry about it anyway. Some organizations, namely Siegfried, refuse to do so.   Siegfried refuses to give up the search in fear that The Workforce will grow too powerful, able to crippled all potential threats in a single move. This belief is shared by several organizations who continue in their efforts to study The Workforce.

"Their is a connection." typo!   I could really get into a character that works in this organization; not only do I have an appreciation of the roguish arts, which would be very useful pulling off the sort of feats you've described, I also love characters who wield unconventional weaponry, such as a mop or a shovel.

Yup! Im digging the potential this organization has. I'll be expanding alot on this organization. Don't forget the potential for "Workplace Accidents," came up with that after I published. They are not always blatant but sometimes just set up unfortunate events. Slippery staircases, rigged electrical outlets Elevators...

Every organisation you write I'm like "This is my favourite!" and this is no exception. They sound really fascinating. In real life, who pays attention to the people doing work?

I'm so happy to hear you say that! One of my main goals is having organizations that no one can easily choose from. a few outliers but so far for the most part, its working. Lol. It helps make the bad guy and good guy thing harder to fall into. I may be doing a story on them in the future and definitely plan on expanding them more. Thanks so much!
