The Western Seas

The ancient Western Seas, sometimes called the Sunset Islands, or the Boundary Seas, are a collection of oceanic islands with a predominantly tropical climate. Over eons, many have tried to tame these seas. Attempted civilisations have risen and fallen, leaving behind only ruins or hidden enclaves of survivors.   Now, the balance of this region has been thrown askew by the reach of two far-off empires, each discovering an abundance of exotic resources and buried treasures still waiting to be unearthed.   National pride and tensions are high, as military fleets from the People's Republic of Albiere and Corchaz war for control over the lands and resources, while mercenaries and treasure hunters vie with dread pirates and wandering curses.   But settlers and sailors quickly realise that warships and soldiers hold very little sway over the seas. There are far greater powers lurking in the deeps, and only those who understand this will survive.
