The Sign of the Dawn

The Sign of the Dawn: A sigil against evil

History

The history of the sign of dawn isn't well documented. Thought to be an echo from one of the reborn duskwalker's time in the lands of the dead, it was first seen on Amulets and belt favors in the Pentagramma collectives as protective amulets.
It first appeared almost overnight and it was said that the sign if drawn or worn would ward against attack from many of the sentient aquatic species that preyed on pirates in the southern seas.

Execution

It is most often seen drawn on or etched into jewlery. Amulets of this type are easy and inexpensive to purchase and relatively common through Pentagramma. It's said that you can also draw the symbol though it takes a certain knowledge of the occult to draw correctly.

Components and tools

Often the sigil is inscribed in some cheap piece of jewlery or on a cloth tabbard. When done this way it takes time to craft and no specific knowledge of the occult.
Those who are practitioners of Occult magic can fairly easily create a more accurate and powerful version of the Sign ((DC 15 Occult Roll or Sigil spell)) which can repel certain groups of monsters and enemies who are familiar with it. Creating these into amulets or drawing them on the fly seems to have little bearing and both work equally well.

Observance

As superstitions go the ritual has made its way thought the land, used by people who have forgotten that it's specific application is aquatic have often been seen making the sign on dawn moments before being ripped apart by more terrestrial foes.   The seriousness of belief is directly proportional to how close one is to Pentagramma, and in the Pirate nation it's almost unanimously carried. Losing your dawn is a common phrase that means "Absolutely without anything".
