Firstly, the people's desire to form new memories with one another after the world had lost so much of it. It helped to bond them with each other and the world around them. This bonding led to the second factor: it seemed to produce unity with the spirits. Whether new spirits were born from the traditions or merely attracted to them, spirits inhabited the objects of tradition and seemed to bless them.
