Hidden Cove

Along the north side of a river on the west side of the White Waste lays a small town.  It was built by goliaths as a summer trade port.  They float logs down the river and then prep the wood to fulfill orders.  This port mainly supplies ironwood for the south west continents.  Along with the normal make up of goliath and goliath kin, a great deal of orcs and half orcs have set up home at this town.  The port is deep and can handle a large amount of ships, but is only free of ice flows three months out of the year.  A notable site is the Forever Glacier, a large ice block that has kept from thawing completely for the entire known history of the port.  It sits in the center of the port and traffic has grown accustomed to sailing around it.  Many scholars and arcane investigators have come to the port to investigate the landmark.  It has never shown signs of melting beyond a specific point, and only grows a slight bit each winter.  No theories have been found satisfactory for what is causing it.

The town is ruled by the same goliath clan that built it originally.  This clan has long put wandering behind them.  As a rite of passage, young are required to find their way to the nearest volcano to dip their first weapon in the magma to show their bravery and capabilities.  They then return home and either declare their loyalty to the clan and desire to stay or their desire to find a wandering tribe and strike out on their own.  When one decides to go out, the town gathers to say good bye and gift them with tools and weapons for their journey. As a final act, the chief marks their clan marks as a now "unclanned" goliath but with a mark that symbolizes that they left on good terms.  Many of these unclanned eventually join a wandering clan, but sometimes they begin a clan of their own by gathering fellow unclanned goliaths.
