Leaping Warriors

In the Age of Dragons, the Mystic Mountains were populated by many peoples, including the humans and kobolds of the eastern ridge. They were flame keepers of the Sweltering Forge and great craftsmen of the metals mined in the western peaks. When the Awakening began, the flame keepers learned that their home had been built upon the very spine of the Great Earth Dragon. As the dragon flew higher and higher, crossing west over the continent and disappearing into the clouds of the ocean, the people gathered their courage and leapt from its back.
In their moment of fear, rushing inevitably towards doom, the Great Water Dragon arose from the sea. It was as if the ocean waters parted for just for them, the soft sand beaches rising up to cradle their fall. These became known as the Scales Islands, a new home gifted upon the people who named themselves Leaping Warriors.
The islanders used their skills with the forge to create glass from the sands. This enchanted glass is essential to all bottlework across the continent, as well as magically infused architecture. As a result, positive trade relationships to the Scales are needed in every country, even as many believe their seafaring culture is taboo.
