Sirens are magical creatures native to deep bodies of water like
the Eastern Sea. They can be quite dangerous as they have luring human-like voices that have been known to lure sailors off their course -often by pretending to be a human in distress- and into dangerous waters causing many deaths.
Due to this, Sirens are seen as terrifying monsters that should be avoided at all costs; if one believes that they see a man overboard while on a boat they need to be careful that it is not a siren luring them off course.
Appearance & Behavior
Sirens have an upper body similar to a human’s with a set of arms, a torso, and a human head, they are also able to sing and speak mimicking the sound of a human’s voice; however, they also have the lower body of a fish with a long scaly tail. Other non-human traits that Sirens have are sharp shark-like teeth, gills, and greyish-blue and green skin; all traits that help them in their aquatic environment as predators. They also have webbed hands with sharp claws as well as spiked fins along their back and sides.
Despite their many fishy traits, Sirens still tend to look human when only seeing their upper body, especially when seen from a distance like from a boat. Sirens use this trait, along with the ability to mimic human voices and singing, to lure sailors into dangerous waters in hopes of crashing their ships so they can eat the sailors.
Sirens are believed to be intelligent creatures, but due to them viewing humans as prey, no human has been able to hold a conversation with a siren to confirm this. This is also difficult to confirm due to Sirens being difficult to find as they are believed to spend most of their time at the bottom of the sea, only coming up to the surface in order to hunt.
Sirens often appear near rocky dangerous to traverse areas of the ocean where a ship could easily run around or scrape their hull against rocks causing them to capsize, this means that sailors have to be extra alert in these areas.
