The Ward House

Alterations

Many stylistic changes have been implemented, from imported decorations, updates to the furnishings, secret chambers, and other effects befitting a Kindred of stature.

Architecture

No two rooms are the same shape or size. The jaw dropping, handcrafted woodwork is custom stained, much like the textured plaster walls, ceilings and trim. The custom wood doors, doorknobs, mouldings, and flooring were imported from Hungary, along with the full built-in basement bar. The home features two walk-in vaults, one of which is cedar lined for furs and is temperature controlled, and 4 unique fireplaces. The remarkable light fixtures, including the grandiose chandelier, were hand made in Hungary, and are one of a kind.

History

This home was originally designed and built by József Galamb, a Hungarian engineer, best known for his crucial role in designing and developing Ford’s Model T and Model M, who utilized his expertise and innovative mind to create the most coveted residence in all of Detroit.
