The United Provinces of Tekederia
The United Provinces of Tekederia is the latest in a long line of successor states of the ancient Tekederian Empire, specifically the UPT is the successor to the 14th Tekederian Republic, which in turn succeeded the 13th Republic of Tekederia, which itself was founded after the collapse of the 3rd Tekederian Directorate, etc.
The Tekederians of ages past were, even then, prideful, militant and self-centered, they would forge their early nations, kingdoms and republics with military might, waging war and cutting each other apart in bloody campaigns. When they weren't fighting each other, the Tekederians often fended off raids by Rhiaraq tribes in the north, skirmished with the Gallians along the northwestern edge of the Tekederian domains and faced sea raids by the Bir along the western shores.
These constant conflicts with outsiders have fostered a long-term disdain for non Tekederians, with the many successive states of Tekederia seeing themselves as the pinnacle of civilization and outsiders as unwashed barbarians in need of civilizing and controlling. This xenophobic mindset has survived to the modern day, with a great loathing and hatred for those barbarians who doomed the greatness of the Tekederian Civilization.
At the City of Consium, upon the border of the Republic and Kingdom, the King of Ventia and the Chief Leaders of the Republic would come to an agreement, they signed the Compact of Consium, uniting the two nations into a new Empire, the Tekederian Empire. The Post of Princep would be formed, a hereditary office held by the line of Ventia Kings, they would hold the highest office of the Republican system and have absolute control over the Military and Foreign policy of the Empire, while the Internal Policy of the Empire, from taxation to laws, would be under the purview of the Candiurum Senate. This new system of governance would become known as the Principate, and the First Empire was born.
Over the several centuries of its existence, the First Empire would enter a golden age under the Principate, with the competent governance of the Senate and the martial skill of the Princeps bringing in new territory, the Empire thrived and took great strides in technology and culture, becoming the center of the western continent and envied across the entire known world by their rivals.
As time went on, The Tekederian Empire would expand across the western continent, going as far west as the coasts of Forzoria, as far north as the lands of the Niremirian and the western borderlands of the Besk. But an empire of such size and power was difficult to govern and the military was spread thin, power along the edge of the empire was delegated to noble families, the senate was hindered by a growing noble class, and the military become run by the relatives Princeps, a fatal threat.
The Death of Princep Callistus III would throw the Empire into Civil War, his 4 brothers, each a skilled commander in their own right. laid claim to the title of Princep and waged open warfare upon each other, while the senate in Candiurum backed Callistus III's underage bastard daughter in an attempt to reassert the power of the senate in the face of the Princep. While this civil war tore apart the empire, the empires territory began to fracture has hundreds of small states broke from the control of the empire and asserted their independence, beginning the eternal spiral downwards of Tekederia.
The Great Turmoil has often been called a lie by Non Tekederians, saying that the nations constant blaming of foreign nations and factors for their collapse brushes over the simple facts that the Tekederian Civilization, in their eyes, is a simple failure in all measures to judge a civilization, having long since the end of their hegemony and should just accept their long-term place as nothing but a third rate nation.
In Tekederia, as opposed to the rest of the world, the Turmoil is seen as a worldwide conspiracy by the so-called lesser cultures, masterminded by the Forzorians, to keep Tekederia broken, weak and if possible, see the total destruction of the Tekederian nation state and culture. This Belief has seeded itself deep into the Tekederian mindset and has now seen the rise of the far right and radical Restitue, Reirth, Renova (Restore, Rebirth, Renewal) Movement, A dangerous and rapidly growing coalition of parties seek the complete rewriting to the current political status quo of Tekederia and as they say, a decisive end to The Great Turmoil.
The Government
The United Provinces is a Federal Parliamentary Republic, in which all power is invested in the National Senate in the City of Candiurum and the Provincial Senates of the UPT's 11 Provinces, the Nation itself lacks any strong executive, following a fusion of powers system in which the Nations Executor acts as a face for ruling parliamentary coalitions and the chief diplomat of the UTP. True Power is held by the Ruling Government Coalitions, which are needed to pass laws, appoint government ministers from within their ranks, and hold control over the nations policies.
The Decentralized and Federal nature of Tekederia means that even the national senate lacks the power to truly effect the running of the nation, with true power invested in the Provincial Senates of the Nations 10 Provinces, with the nation's capital province of Candiurum being the only place where the national government can enact its full authority without requiring the consent and approval of the Provincial Senate. Within each Province, the Provincial Senates hold the final and absolute authority to govern and lead as they see fit for all affairs of their respected provinces.
The National Senate is a 66 Seat Body, with 6 Senators elected to represent each Province in the halls of National Power. There is no term limit on senators, nor any term length, a senator serves until either the Executor calls a new election, or the ruling coalition is unable to maintain it's majority and is a minority government for a two week period then new elections are to be held without anyway to reverse them.
Even with the weakness and common knowledge, the Executor is often blamed for the failings and shortcomings of their coalitions and is often the first to go following a new election or new coalition agreement, leading to the Executor Office being a revolving door of politicians. Despite all this, the Executor office still has one thing that is desired by the political factions within the senate, in accordance with Article 18 of the UPT Constitution, the Executor holds the sole power to call for elections in the National Senate
Due to the extreme power invested in the provinces, they act as their own nations in all but name, with the provinces even authorized their own Provincial Guards and those with a coastline, naval forces. These Military freedoms extend to the national military, with the government unable to conscript while the provinces can, and national forces unable to leave Candiurum without the express approval of 2/3rds of the Provincial Senates of those provinces national forces seek to enter.
The Intense Decentralization of the UPT, with so much power centralized in the Provinces at the expense of the National Government, has fostered a growing sense of regionalism within Tekederia. This growing Regionalism, along with the growing instability on the national stage, has lead to many seeking the further weaking or even dissolution of the federal government and the United Provinces to simply become a loose confederation.
The National Army has adopted the Military doctrine of Grand Battle, seeing war on the strategic level, seeing trenches, in depth defenses, and vast battles. This Doctrine has served the military in its planning for a Defensive war against Tekederia's chief rival, The Forzorian Empire, However the Doctrine itself remains untested outside of wargames and small-scale experiments across the war during the recent surge of conflict.
The National Army itself is headed by National Army Command, with no one figure or military leader holding the official post of Head of the National Army, with the UPT fearing any one man from holding too much power, even in the Nation's Military apparatus.
The National Navy has been often called a green sea navy, patrolling the rivers and coasts of the nation, unable to properly field a fleet for the open sea and a wider range of deployment. The fleet has become a patrol and defensive design, often acting as a glorified coast guard for the coastal waters of the UPT. The Sole exception to this Status Quo, is the Princep, a Rigger Class Aircraft Carrier based in the capital city of Candiurum, the first Aircraft carrier built in the entire world.
The National Navy is headed by National Naval Command, sharing with the army no central leader or military figure, out of fear of some militant leader from gaining too much power over the nation's military and gaining the ability to stage militant actions against the national government.
The National Air Service has developed an Idea of Full strategic bombings, seeking to obliterate everything from enemy industry, cities, rail lines and highways, and the very soil of an enemy. The Air Service has become the most united and efficient branch of the Nation, being well organized, well-funded and seeing increased recruitment from the populace seeking great adventure in the skies.
The National Air Service is headed by National Air Command, Sharing with the other two branches no central figure or military leader, out of fear of militant action against the national government and the rise of yet another dictator in the history of Tekederia.
These Provincial Guards answer to the Provincial Senates of their native provinces, with the National Government and National Military Services having no legal ability or right to take control and command of the Provincial Guard Forces, leading to a chaotic scene of logistics and organization across the nation's Military apparatus.
What Once Was
The First People
The Early Tekederians arrived in their ancestral land long ago, no records exist, and only the stories told from generation to generation remain. It is said the Goddess Palma Viridis, with the help of the God Cognitus Caput, crafted thousands of empty shells made of clay and stone and placed them across the world, then breathed life into them. These were the first members of the human species, and among the many crafted groups, the Tekederians were the ones who the gods took the greatest interest in. They came into being upon the Peninsula which would come to share the name of their nation, Tekederia.

This xenophobic mindset has survived to the modern day, with a great loathing and hatred for those barbarians who doomed the greatness of the Tekederian Civilization.
The First Empire
The endless conflict between Tekederian Dominions would be the status quo for centuries, but eventually the core lands of Tekederia would split into two, the Kingdom of Ventia upon the banks of the O'larius River and the Republic of Canidurum, where the Rivers Nateb and Laisherhir join at the sea. These two nations would wage several wars against each other, fighting for over a century until both the kingdom and the republic verged upon collapse, peace was necessary if either nation would survive its own collapse. While this civil war tore apart the empire, the empires territory began to fracture has hundreds of small states broke from the control of the empire and asserted their independence, beginning the eternal spiral downwards of Tekederia.
The Great Turmoil
The Great Turmoil is a term coined to describe the ongoing status of the Tekederian Nation, the Deluge has been characterized by a continuously unstable Tekederian nation, shifting between republics, empires, dictatorships, periods of Warlordism and all other forms of governance every few generations or so. Every form of government and every regime has promised to end The Great Turmoil, every form of government and regime has failed to end the Great Turmoil and restore the Golden Age of the First Empire.

The Government
The Senates
The United Provinces of Tekederia is a shadow of its former self, despite being the second largest nation upon the continent, it has become slow and slumbering, its system ineffective and unable to grasp past glories or future victories. This is reflected in its modern government, with the Tekederian system of governance over complicated by procedure and convoluted methods of rule and representation.
There is no term limit on senators, nor any term length, a senator serves until either the Executor calls a new election, or the ruling coalition is unable to maintain it's majority and is a minority government for a two week period then new elections are to be held without anyway to reverse them.
The Executor
On paper, the Executor is the highest office in the land, the final steppingstone in any politician's dream of prestige and political power, but every man, women and child in Tekederia known the truth, the Executor is nothing but a meaningless post for political power. The Executor is chosen from the ranks of the largest political parties within the National Senate, acting as the public face for the ruling Political coalition within the senate, while also having the responsibility to act as the nation's chief diplomat in foreign relations.Even with the weakness and common knowledge, the Executor is often blamed for the failings and shortcomings of their coalitions and is often the first to go following a new election or new coalition agreement, leading to the Executor Office being a revolving door of politicians. Despite all this, the Executor office still has one thing that is desired by the political factions within the senate, in accordance with Article 18 of the UPT Constitution, the Executor holds the sole power to call for elections in the National Senate
The High Court
The High Court of Tekederia is a 11-seat court that holds the final say on all legal matters concerning the Tekederian constitution and the division of powers between the provinces and the federal government, the court itself is a lifetime appointment, with each province appointing one judge to the court, with the federal government appointing the judge for Candiurum Province. It is the uneven power invested to the provinces that have allowed the court to consistently rule in the favor of the provinces on all legal matters, eroding the power of the federal government even further and practically turning the provinces into autonomous nations within Tekederia, practically destroying the united Tekederian Nation. The Provinces
The UPT is constituted of 11 Provinces in the lands of the Tekederian Heartlands: The Federal Province of Candiurum, Sorcularo, Ventia, Prederia, Marsavum, Naupeia, Cansia, Aternomia, Laulia, Confluentia and Consium. Each province, excluding the Federal Province of Canidurum which is administered by the national senate directly, has a locally elected senatorial body which holds the absolute authority within its borders, with these senates headed by their own provincial Executor with the exact same powers as the national Executor barring Article 18, each province having its own regulation on when elections are held and how they are organizedDue to the extreme power invested in the provinces, they act as their own nations in all but name, with the provinces even authorized their own Provincial Guards and those with a coastline, naval forces.
The Tekederian Military
The Modern Situation in Tekederia has formulated a weak national military, incapable of preforming many of the basic functions a national military must perform. This has led to growing discontent within the armed forces, and a growing movement both within and outside it to strengthen it.The National Army
The National Army of the United Provinces of Tekederia, known simply as the National Army, is the principal branch of the Tekederian Armed services, being the largest branch and where the bulk of the militaries already small budget is allocated. The National Army shares little similarities with the Legions of Tekederias past, having evolved from the nepotistic, levy focused military force to a small force of professional Solidiers.
The National Navy
The National Navy of the United Provinces of Tekederia, known simply as the National Navy, is the smallest of the three branches of the Tekederian Armed services, having several budget cuts and being forced to mothball much of the already small National Navy, and suffering a severe understaffing due to a lack of volunteers.
The National Air Service
The National Air Service of the United Provinces of Tekederia, known simply as the National Air Service or Air Force, is the rising star of the National Armed Forces in Tekederia, having a growing budget at the expense of the Navy and debates over cutting the army for aerial resources. The Air Service has risen to become the one branch of military power Soley in the hands of the national government.
The Provincial Guard
Every single Province in Tekederia maintains its own Provincial Guard, ranging from a small unprofessional militia armed with whatever the citizens could provide, while others would become fully organized, well-funded and vast professional armies and navies that rival and even surpass the National Military Services of Tekederia. These Provincial Guards answer to the Provincial Senates of their native provinces, with the National Government and National Military Services having no legal ability or right to take control and command of the Provincial Guard Forces, leading to a chaotic scene of logistics and organization across the nation's Military apparatus.
