Victor Valmont
Lord Victor Vincent Valmont (a.k.a. Vincent de la Vega)
Victor Vincent Valmont was the patriarch of the Valmont noble family and a major antagonist turned ally to the Stardust Crusaders. He is father-in-law, grandfather, and great-grandfather to Raziel Astra, Lilith Castelle, and Solas and Lilin Castelle respectively.
Background
Rejection of Fate
Victor first came onto the scene during the Rejection of Fate campaign as an antagonist to Lilith Castelle, threatening her scholarship to the Arcanamirium. Over the course of the campaign he became an antagonist to the Stardust Crusaders as a whole, taking the role of Wrath within Malachi's Seven Deadly Sins. He was slain by Lilith during a battle fought against himself and Sin Greed.
Following his death, Lilith came to own a diabolic contract forged between the Valmont family and an unknown devil. By using the contract's power, she was able to summon the undead spirit of Victor to do her bidding. During this time a tentative friendship formed between the two, with Victor taking on the role of mentor to the young mage. This relationship deepened during the conflict against Atorasu, when Lilith died at Yashiro's hands and was briefly chaperoned in the afterlife by Victor.
During the conflict against Envy, while before the Well of Creation, Lilith inadvertently wished for Victor's rebirth and allowed him to reincarnate into a physical body. While the party was originally against Victor's allyship, they eventually agreed to allow him to offer his aid in return for him keeping his identity concealed. Victor complied, and returned to Absalom with the gang at the end of the adventure.
New Destinies
Following the gang's defeat of the Cult of the Undying Light, Victor took the name Vincent de la Vega and continued to offer his wisdom and assistance to the Stardust Crusaders. He personally trained his grandson Solas in both the magical and musical arts, giving the boy a foundation to build off of.
During the "City of Steel" adventure, Victor traveled with the party to Almas in order to assist against Violet Valmont's hostile takeover of the city. Victor met Violet in battle, having gone on ahead of the party to handle matters on his own. During the battle, Violet fatally wounded Victor before the gang could stop her. After the battle's end, the party discovered that Victor had been hiding a growing "disease" in his body. The power of the wish that had reincarnated him was fading, and the flame of his new life was coming to a close quickly.
Having used the final act of his life to cast down the legacy which he had spent his years building, and having made his last amends, Victor reposed on the 28th day of Arodus in the 4725th year since the reckoning of Absalom.
