Major language groups and dialects
Alethi and Voren are the two major languages of Kharbranth
Shared customary codes and values
Intelligence, research, and academic progress are three values held dear to most of the learned classes.
Art & Architecture
Kharbranthian architecture is similar in style to modern Greek and Arab styles. White stone open buildings with man domes, large arches, and pillars.
Birth & Baptismal Rites
When a person is born, their footprint is recorded and they are given their name.
Coming of Age Rites
Like in other Vorin states, when a girl comes of age they wear a glove on their left hand (which they call their safe hand), which is worn until they marry. The boys meanwhile, begin wearing a shoulder adornment on their clothes, which they also remove upon marriage.
Funerary and Memorial customs
When a person dies, their body is taken to the ardents who perform the Vorin funeral rites, which conclude with the body being soulcast into a gemstone. These gemstones cannot be used for power or magic, and have no monetary value. The gemstones are then stored in a secure location in the palace, until a space is made on the Mural of Souls, a gargantuan wall outside of the palace, where gemstones of the dead are placed to rest, forming one of the most moving art pieces Roshar has.
Ideals
Beauty Ideals
Kharbranth appreciates the newest styles, however with a more laid back philosophy. While nobles and the wealthy of other nations clamor for the hottest newest fashion, Kharbranthians often wait for a month or two to see what holds up and what doesn't, then dresses according to the best fashions that last longer.
Gender Ideals
There are little restrictions when it comes to gender roles. While men and women are generally encouraged to follow the doctrine of the church and maintain social norms, many in Kharbranth live rejecting these ideals, which is positively accepted. Often you will find women in the royal guard carrying swords, and men cooking and cleaning their homes while holding down work as a seamstress.
Relationship Ideals
Kharbrantian culture encourages maintaining a relationship with one partner for one's entire life. While there are deviations from that path, most people are private about it should they partake.
