First Job
21st of Horsebow Moon

21st of Horsebow Moon, 1173   Sorry I haven’t been able to write much over these past couple of days but so much has happened! We (as in the people I fought Achilles with, along with the metal owl bear himself) got hired for a job! Saving this money for my travels and cost of food/lodging I need along the way will be a nice security blanket!   Originally we thought it would just be a simple bodyguard job for Lord Sebrezal because most of the time we were patrolling. My first watch was with Vestele for just making sure everything was on the up and up at the mansion. My next watch was when we were going out to the Lord’s shipping warehouses. I was paired with Quilletta for that one. Achilles couldn’t go inside so he got to stick with me! (Thanks Therion!) I was considering holding his metal paw for a split second, just to see what it would be like. Ultimately I decided against it because I didn’t know how he would react and also probably would get a weird look from Quilletta who was weary of the metal creature.   I ended up talking to Quilletta about her horse for a little bit. The most prominent question my brain kept bringing up though was why he was named Felon exactly and not something like Valor, but I didn’t want to be rude and refrained from asking. Maybe one day I would learn how he got his name. (There's a list of horse names in the side of the notebook.)   It turns out though the Lord had angered a local criminal organization and soon found ourselves protecting the guy by fighting them off. I was hoping we wouldn’t fight as there seemed to be a lot of them… but we did alright! They ended up attacking first and from there it slowly seemed to spiral out of control a little bit.   They fought for what they believed in as we fought for what we had been contracted to do. I would never consider taking a life, as all life is important and has a purpose… however being in battle really opens your eyes to what could happen to you; how quickly life can end and how you have to protect yourself. Watching your new friends slowly get hurt over and over again seeing no end to the bandits, only to find yourself being surrounded with no one to immediately help. It all happened so fast: getting stabbed. I panicked. I was scared. I curled in on myself. Clutching my amulet I thought, ‘would this be it?’   But I wasn’t truly alone, warmth filled my body and I shoved my amulet out in front of me shouting for the bandits to get away from me. Radiant energy erupted around me killing a couple of bandits... I was chosen and given these powers to help those around me, but to do so I had to be alive. I wasn’t killing in the name of a god or anything like that, I was protecting myself so in return I could save more. I will not forget them, I will live on for them and save more than the amount of lives I have taken.   To rub salt in the wound we also found out that the group of bandits we fought were trying to get the leader’s sister back because the Lord had kidnapped her. We found this out later because the bandits attacked the mansion at night and captured us. When we escaped we interrogated a couple that were left behind and became aware of what was truly going on.   The rest all happened in a whirlwind: We met the bandit’s leader, helped her get her sister back, and then they left the city. It has been a long day but I wanted to get this all down before I forgot! Until next adventure!

Finally Something Exciting Happens!
17th of Horsebow Moon, 1173

17th of Horsebow Moon, 1173   Wandering into the town of Kelathar I looked around for a tavern to stay at. Walking along the buildings my eyes scanning for a place to stay I caught sight of a large metal owl bear... they aren't usually metal right? However it was next to a horse and seemed to be doing fine (not angry). It just sort of was sitting there, waiting? Looking over at the building it was staring at read: 'The Fire Flower Tavern'. It was too perfect of timing and there was sure to be something or someone interesting inside if this was their companion! Cautiously walking by the owl bear I slowed and observed it out of the corner of my eye. It moved and looked exactly like an owl bear but someone must've made it seeing as it was metal! How amazing!! Curiosity took me over and I stopped and stepped toward the owl bear now able to see its' face. Noticing me start towards it, the owl bear turned its head to look in my direction and glowing blue eyes blankly gazed at me. I couldn't hide my amazement and audibly gasped a hello at the creature. It was so lifelike and amazing I couldn't help but gawk at it. The owl bear's head tiled and the horse next to it snorted making me look at it in surprise just in time to see it bowing its' head. Giggling at how cute both were I decided it was time to head in and get some food and a good night’s rest. Maybe I would find out more about this metal owl bear from someone staying at the tavern, I thought. Surely I could have never known what later would bring.   Once inside I put my bag and gear in my room before grabbing some food. Waiting for my meal I looked around and saw a wide variety of people scattered around at different tables. Some were in pairs and others were sitting alone. My focus was mostly on an armored Ardent with blonde hair. She was traveling with a person that had a comically large backpack on. They were both chatting amongst themselves when the blonde armored ardent stood and started heading my way. She introduced herself as Emelina and looking for advice on her pamphlet to introduce people to Vorinism. All of her information was correct and it was impressive she had hand written them all. Complimenting her on her work I gave her some feedback and she left to go about the room and handout her pamphlets.   I ate my meal in peace while trying to listen in on Emelina’s conversations, curious as to why she was an armored Ardent, maybe someone would dare to ask. Catching a few words from her conversation with the two sitting at the bar I gathered the clues in my head. She was most likely in Knights of Ardentia, which calmed my nerves and allowed me to focus on my own thoughts while eating.   Not too long after the owl bear went crazy! How could something so dormant one second be so violent the next and punch a hole in the wall?! I wanted to make sure no one was hurt and rushed out amongst everyone else at the tavern. Everyone helped to subdue the owl bear, Therion (later found his name out) didn’t want his creation to be hurt and all I could think about was one spell I had in hopes of stopping Achilles (also found the owl bear’s name out later).   Therion had gotten badly injured but didn’t seem like he was going to rest and instead got to fixing his creation right away. I went over to him instead of heading inside with everyone else. We had a brief conversation because I was curious about Achilles and how he worked. He just seemed so lifelike it was amazing. I then introduced myself before casting a quick healing spell on Therion and his friend just in case something happened tonight with Achilles again.   And that’s pretty much all of the highlights for today!
