Nakamaru (Nack-car-mah-roo)

Nakamaru

Known as the city that never sleeps, Nakamaru is the capital and most populated city of the Machuakara territory located at its northern most point. Its name generally refers to the two different city states: Nakamaru and its outter districts Amaru.
The city occupies the vast majority of the Fey Falls, and ever flowing waterfall that falls into the Aurora Sea below. Whilst Amaru spans the Crest of Fey Falls and the Final Frontier seaport at the base, Machukara cascades down the centre point. Here the Royal palace, Parliment Building, Baburu Institute of Shin, The Cresent University, The Fey Portal theatre, Noble houses, and wealthier merchants reside. It has a population of around 4000 people with the large majority living in Amaru. Whilst it is an Elvish city other races are welcome, especially those pledged to the teachings of their patron diety; Nureta.

Early History:

Shortly after the Calamity, where most civilisation was destroyed, the island Machukara was created by the remaining elves. Nakamaru was founded right after this. Chosen due to its proximity to the Shin Spire, the Elves set to work creating something worthy of the gods. The city soon became the envy of many other races but it's strategical position made it difficult to invade and the Elvish fleets quickly dispatched of any who tried. Clanire Koshaean Wolyn, a high respected moon elf, was elected the first Primeminster of the city and oversaw the construction of the Royal Palace and the Parliment Building. The City wasn't opened to those of other races until Primeminster Krislana Wolyn took reign after her mother's death, some 143 years after its creation.
Isolating themselves from the vast majority of the other territories for so long, Nakamaru society is strict on its own customs and traditions which havent changed in centuries. Socialite standing and reputation of houses is key to making it in the capital.

Geography

Whilst Nakamaru is postioned on the Nothern most point of Machukara, its postion was also chosen for its relation to both the Abjuration Ley Line and Spin Spire. While Nakamaru falls right underneath the ley line, Amaru branches off of the Oristu Bridge; a channel of water that is funnled from the edges to the center. Capital Ferries make their way up and down as a form of transport. 

Culture

Nakamaru is known as the city that never sleeps for two reasons; the bright glow of the Shin Spire; and its Cultural night life. Known throughout all of Ni-koh as the cultural capital the city hosts theatres and festivals all year round. The most renown is the Pointed Sound Theatre established by two Eldarin, it hosts a wealth of different acts and troupes who are sort after throughout the world.
Elven tradition is one of a matriarchal society. Whilst the men of the family will go out and work the women are the heads of the houses, hold political leadership, moral authority, social privilege and control of property. While it isnt uncommon for a un-wed male to run and own a business, a business is more trusted with a married female as co-chair.
While these traditions are very in-grained in the elven society the influx of outsider perspective is slowly seeing a change in this. 

Economy

Nakamauru has a highly diversified economy with particular strengths in Alchemy: research and manufacturing. In fact Nakamaru potions at considered high value and have a price tag to match. Nakamaru's trade is done through Final Frontier Seaport, with little to no Shin Sphere trades.

Languages

Whilst everyone speaks common. Elvish dialects are often used to show dominance and stature. If you don't speak Elvish you are looked down on.

Religion

The main religion of Nakamaru is Nuretian, other churches to the other 3 gods can be found in Amaru.
