Raider Wing
When fighting, Hungarians form thick lines of archers. Hungarians prefer to pack them close together in one or two lines rather than to stack them deeply in multiple lines. This leaves less room for maneuvering but allows them to concentrate their fire better.
Composition
Equipment
Lamellar armor. Some archers carry round shields but many do not since round shields are less effective on horseback and awkward for archers to use in combat.
Weaponry
Composite recurve bows and sabers.
Vehicles
Well trained warhorses.
Structure
Led by a Chieftain with clan leaders serving as lieutenants.
Tactics
Raiders stand off at long distance (200 to 300 feet) and fire arrows into their enemies. If the enemy tries to charge them they will feign retreat and then turn and attack when the enemy's formation begins to break apart.
Training
Wing tactics require a high level of horsemanship, archery skills, and mental discipline to be able to stop the false retreat and counterattack at the right moment.
Type
Cavalry
Overall training Level
Semi-professional
