Brendan begins his journey to the west.

Tired of being a thief in Constantinople, Brendan feels that he is now ready to head out into the west looking for a Frankish army to join so that he can kill Vikings and possibly rescue his sister (if she isn't dead).

Brendan slowly works his westward, collecting information and looking for opportunities. He picks up some Bulgarian on his way to the Adriatic. His plan is to go up the coast of the Adriatic, through northern Italy, through East Francia (Germany) to get to the Danes. He is smart enough to avoid the most direct route through the Carpathian basin because he knows that the Magyars and Bulgarians are very dangerous and that the Frankish lands are (a little bit) safer and more settled.
