Brendan returns to Constantinople

Brendan was only 10 but managed to get from Baghdad to Constantinople on his own. He traveled 1300 miles over 6 months via Damascus and the coastal roads of Asia Minor to get back to a home that didn't exist. It was a transformative event that sharpened his wits, tested his perseverance and taught him to be extremely dependent upon himself. He learned a fair amount of Arabic along the way but there were many people who still spoke Greek for him to interact and deal with. He taught himself how to use a sling and throw knives. His extremely high intelligence helped him pick up a lot of survival tips along the way. He survived by stealing, gambling, juggling, acrobatics, and fortune telling (palm reading, astrology, and rune reading from some stones he carved strange looking symbols on that integrated Norse and Greek letters). Because of the way he used fortune telling to dupe people into giving him money he is very skeptical of those who claim to be able to genuinely divine the future).
