Castle Warrick Stable Fire

The stable of Castle Warrick catches fire . Two people and 1 horse are killed, 5 people and 4 horses are injured.

A lantern is accidentally knocked over by a groom checking on the horses on an unusually cold December night. He had spilled some oil on himself filling the lantern before making his rounds. The oil on his pants caught fire while he was trying to put out the burning hay and he panicked and began spreading the fire far worse while he was trying to put out the fire on his pants. The entire stable began burning very quickly. The entire castle came out to try and put out the flames. Since the stable is adjacent to the keep Sir Gerard and his family were among the first to arrive on the scene. Sir Gerard ran in to try and save the horses while Lady Evelyn began directing a fire brigade bringing water in buckets from the keep. Cyrus disobeyed his mother (he wanted to be just like his father) and rushed in to try and save the horses. Portia went in to try and save Cyrus. Portia got a bad burn on her leg and Cyrus (along with the groom who started the fire) was killed. The fire was considered to be a major disaster for the castle but because of the death of Cyrus, nobody in the castle refers to it.
