Brendan filed through his chains with a hidden file from his father's smithy. He started hitting people with the chains and pushing guards into nobles. He threw flaming oil onto a noble and his wife, and managed to start a riot before he escaped in the confusion. He stole some women's clothing and hid in plain sight while everyone looked for him (since women were fully covered, even with veils over their faces, this helped him stay disguised. Since travel for women was restricted he had to move slowly and carefully, from location to location until he could get out of the city (this took several days). Once out of the city, he changed back into men's clothes to make travel easier but kept the women's clothes and used them again as needed when traveling though other Arab cities.
