Forest Guardian
Deep in the old forests, watching quietly from behind trees and from boughs, the shy guardians of the forest are rarely seen by travelers.
They were originally created to defend nature from enroaching threats, and they have a good sense for true intentions of those they meet. They rarely show themselves to anyone, choosing to encage only if they need to guard their home. Sometimes, if they witness a good deed, they may ask for help or offer it. The mostly speak the Old Tongue and Elvish, and many of them know the language of the Fey, as well.
Forest guardians are humanoid creatures whose height varies greatly, most standing at anywhere between 150 centimeters to two meters tall. Their colors imitate those of their environment, varying between different hues of greens and browns. They are surprisingly strong despite their lean figures, and their arms are longer than those of an average humanoid, helping them in moving with more ease along the branches.
They have sharp eyes and ears, and are able to see well even during the night.
The forest guardians are genderless, and they do not procreate. Instead, sometimes, when the forest feel threatened or otherwise in need of more guardians, one of its older trees gives birth to a almost fully grown guardian who carries within the ancient knowledge of the forest itself.
Forest Guardians also do not age the same way most other species do, but rather, they keep their strength for as long as their forest needs them or until it perishes. When that time comes, they wither away like flowers as the summer ends, leaving behind a sapling or a flower that is believed to hold magical properties.
As their name would suggest, most forest guardians live in forests, especially the older ones. One or two might protect a young forest, and on an extremely rare occasion, a lone tree or plant in a desert or near arctict regions might call for the aid of one. These individuals are usually smaller than their kin in the woods, and often do not possess the same strenght and magical capabilities.
Forest guardians have a natural ability to cast magics, most of them curative or defensive in nature. They have the ability to control water, and they are naturally resistant to fire, helping them to douse fires that burn in their homes. They are likewise able to resist many magics directed at them, and it is impossible to poison them or magically force them to act against their will.
