Governing and Inheritance

Governing

Ager is a kingdom that is ruled by the royal couple. The crown is inherited by the oldest son or daughted based on whether the governing family is male- or female-led. Currently, the King holds the ultimate authority, so most likely his position is inherited by a prince.
Working closely with the King are the Royal Council and the noble families charged with overlooking the regions of Kiweda, Northern Islands, Eastern Cape, the Northern mountains, Southern Mountains, Central North, Southwestern lands, and the Border region.

Inheritance

In families, the inheritance is decided most often by the history of the family. If the the founder of the family was a woman, the power will remain in the hands of one, and likewise, if its founder was a man, the inheritor is generally a man.
The inheritor is usually the oldest child of appropriate gender, unless someone else is considered more fitting for the role; this, however, is a rare occurance.
As two families are joined through marriage, the authority is either split or given to the one of higher rank, such as the one from an older or more influental family. Usually the couple makes this decision, but it is not unheard of that the political marriages get arranged based on who remains in power.
A child that doesn't have father-name or mother-name is never the primary choice for inheritor, and instead, if the oldest child is born after the death of one parent, the power is usually handed down to someone else, such as an aunt or an uncle.
