Dragon

Dragons are one of the oldest races, ancient flying reptiles with a wide range of abilities and millenia of history. Dragons have over the years neared extinction, only small numbers traversing the universe.

Basic Information

Ecology and Habitats

Dragons are one of the most versatile mortal creature in existence, capable of comfortably living in any environment, including the vacuum of space. This means that the various different sub-species of dragons are differentiated purely by aesthetic and capabilities rather than inhabited domain.

Dietary Needs and Habits

Dragons can live off of almost anything with nutrition, sometimes going years on meager scraps of plants and small animals to survive. This has led to dragons becoming adept scavengers, eating whatever food is available rather than being forced to seek for a specific type of food.

Behaviour

Dragons are terrifyingly sentient beings, fully aware of themselves and others and with a level of knowledge and understanding only lesser to that of gods. Dragons themselves are often cunning, wily creatures capable of tricking or manipulating people without any difficulty.

Additional Information

Social Structure

Although dragons are mostly hermetic creatures, the few collectives established amongst them are treated more like an alliance than a full community, where no one dragon leads them but instead they all occasionally contribute and communicate.

Uses, Products & Exploitation

When dragons were much more common, Dragon Hunters sought them out for their highly valuable scales and other trophies. These hunters would also use the dragon's attachment and nostalgia for certain items to acquire them, selling them on for profit.

Geographic Origin and Distribution

Back in the age where dragons still inhabited many of the worlds people do, they would often be found in secluded, safe locations such as deep caves or high atop mountains. This did not prevent the dragons from living near settlements, however, as certain dragons came to develop close relations with the much shorter lived peoples around them.

Perception and Sensory Capabilities

Dragons are famed for their heightened senses, traversing their dens and the world whilst being acutely aware of everything around them, regardless of whether they can see or hear it. Exactly how they do this has been a mystery which plagues scholars and researches time immemorial.
