Rosekin

Rosekin are a type of plant-based creature often percieved as a violent monster but is vital to keeping the numbers of worse creatures down. Rosekin are also iconic parts of an ecosystem.

Basic Information

Anatomy

Rosekin appear to be vast flower bushes, flowers and other plants adorning their bodies to further enhance their camoflague, disguising their small bodies atop a pair of large, multi-jointed legs.

Genetics and Reproduction

Rosekin rely upon cross-pollination to reproduce, rooting themselves for months at a time if they dedicate themselves to producing offspring, but can still pollinaate whilst on the move.

Growth Rate & Stages

Rosekin start off as Rosekin seeds, being produced by their parent plants and released, left to grow into sprouts. After growing into sprouts, Rosekin first start attempting their own movement, occasionally uprooting themselves and moving short distances before replanting themselves. After a while, Rosekin become seedlings, much more capable and now are able to comfortably travel on their own.   After practicing travel and developing as seedlings, Rosekin begin to bud, preparing to grow flowers of their own as other plants latch onto them and develop alongside them. After yet more time, this stage comes to an end as the Rosekin develop into fully flowering plants, travelling long distances and producing their own offspring.

Ecology and Habitats

Rosekin prefer to inhabit the forrests and fields of the Western Plains, keeping themselves hidden from the local people and predators alike.

Dietary Needs and Habits

Rosekin, similar to other plants and plant-based creatures, live off of photosynthesis, rooting themselves in the ground to intake water and nutrients to produce energy.

Biological Cycle

During the colder winter and fall months, Rosekin will either migrate to warmer climates in a similar pattern to birds or hibernate, shedding their leaves and laying dormant until the temperatures and weather recover.

Behaviour

Rosekin are usually passive creatures, but are prone to extreme violence if they or their fellow Rosekin are harmed, utilising thorns and other natural weaponry to assault any threat with an unrelenting conviction.

Additional Information

Uses, Products & Exploitation

Rosekin, although seen as pests, are often used to clear an area of larger monsters, a group of Rosekin capable of swarming and devastating even some of the biggest creatures in the Western Plains if given enough time and numbers. The flowers of a Rosekin are also highly prized, famed for their beauty and long life. This leads to many more prestigious or wealthy individuals either entrapping Rosekin for their gardens or harvesting the flowers directly, hunting them.

Average Intelligence

Although Rosekin do not have a particularly advanced intelligence, they are capable of rudimentary communication and, with the support of certain spirits and beings that can speak with them, they are able to understand basic societal constructs and follow the ways of an area's deities.

Perception and Sensory Capabilities

Rosekin do not use conventional eyesight, relying on scents, sounds and vibrations to percieve their surroundings.

Symbiotic and Parasitic organisms

Rosekin entrust themselves to being part of their ecosystem, providing pollen for bees and other creatures as well as being a vital piece of the food chain.
