Succession Crisis of the Gefunden Kingdom
The Succession Crisis of the Gefunden Kingdom is a long lasting civil war that tore the country apart and still rages on to this day.
The Conflict
Prelude
As the ruling king of the Gefunden Kingdom neared the end of his life, he had still not produced an eligible heir, causing the escalation of worries that the Kingdom would fall into a civil war amongst the claimants. As if to worsen the matters, the rapidly growing power of Beis the Lich led to him preparing an attempt to lay claim to the kingdom, securing himself a poorly backed and only technically valid claim, but enough for him to justify waiting on the sidelines for the inevitable succession crisis.
Deployment
Both the True Kingdom and the New Kingdom had to rely on the old, slow mobilisation methods of Gefunden Kingdom, whereas the Lich Kingdom could rapidly direct their shambllng undead army to the frontlines.
Conditions
Because of the permanent winter that Beis the Lich had forced upon the region, it became a very difficult staging ground as the climate drained the area of supplies and make long term exposure lethal.
The Engagement
Because of the conditions and terrain, most engagements saw a slow, careful setup of defensive trenches armed with crossbowmen and archers as the melee units waited alongside them to counter any attacks and press the advantage.
Outcome
After the civil war broke out, it tapped into significant political and social divides amongst the population, fuelling tensions that had already begun to boil over. This led to sub factions forming within the factions of the civil war, making a chaotic environments even in the midst of what is happening.
