Blossen

I HAVE HAD SEVERAL ENCOUNTERS WITH THE BLOSSEN AT THIS point, and each interaction brings with it a new appreciation for beauty. Even those of them whose petals are a more muted color adorn themselves with extravagant and mind boggling garments, or craft such works as to make a person weep. That being said, they know all too well their charming effect on those who are most appreciative of their contributions to our world, and it's always best to keep your eye on them in case they mean to take advantage of that fact.   --Beros Nim, The Timber Tome, page 33
Blossen are a vibrant folk, spreading their love for beauty and art to all those who would appreciate it. They are born of nature, taking the appearance and occasionally the qualities of flowers, with an almost limitless variety of colors and patterns to their forms.

From the Feywild

The blossen have their origins within the Feywild itself, one of the many races that has made the transition from the mirror plane of the Material and managed to flourish. Having slowly lost most of their fey heritage, they still retain a modicum of its magic, and their otherworldly quality has never dwindled even now. Their reasons for their mass exodus of the Feywild are shrouded in mystery, and its knowledge has been reduced to rumour and speculation. A number of their kind were once very much a part of the courts of the fey, and even know they often find themselves more than ready to fight for a cause.

Born to Behold Beauty

Life is beauty. Or, so a lot of blossen believe. Not just in the shallow sense of physical appearance, but in creating art of all kinds. Their physical beauty is famous in its own right, but the depth to their passion for creativity has yet to be truly exhausted. Painting, weaving, and calligraphy are just three of their biggest interests, with dozens of other outlets for their energy and dedication waiting in the wings to be seized and explored.   The source of their love for beauty is said to be inspired by their home, the Feywild, which instilled the sense into them with its endless examples of life, and the truth that nature is an all encompassing force to be beheld with respect and adulation. Once they made their way to the Material Plane, they soon discovered they had barely scratched the surface of the subject. Now they seek out other cultures and peoples, to absorb the beauty they create and find new and more fantastic ways to express themselves.

Complacent in Company

Whilst beauty can be appreciated by a lone subject, art is only art when it is shared. Community is extremely important to blossen; fortunate then that they make friends so easily. Whether amongst their own kind, or enjoying the company of strangers, a blossen seeks to make partnerships. People to inspire, and be inspired by. A blossen will do almost anything to preserve the ties of love and camaraderie they make, and when called upon by those they are bonded with, they will nigh on always answer by standing united and ready to fight.

Civilization and Culture

Naming Traditions

Most blossen are named by their parents, and each of their names is written in Bloss—the language of the blossen, exemplary of their love of beauty—in such a way as to tell a story, when read, of their life to come. When they come of age, blossen sometimes take a new name if they feel like their birth name does not match their particular story. This new name is both a hope of things to come, and a promise made to themselves. The following list of sample blossen names includes translations in parenthesis. Blossen Names: Billamarin (Seeker of Secrets and Unveiler of Truth), Cascadicas (They who Fight with all their Heart), Serasalana (Bringer of Light to Home and Hearth), Ventolon (Eyes of the World Shaper)

When blossen fashion is spoken of, it's almost always in reference to the rosa. Their skills at creating clothing are legendary, and their taste and style are held in the highest of regard. For most rosa however, clothing must be practical as well as stylish. The greatest example of this creed is their adoration for armor, both its creation and use.
