When a rogue finds the right teacher, or perhaps as a result of
an accident or blessing, they can learn the ways of the
Satellite. A Satellite can magically control the fundamentals of
gravity, able to pull objects and creatures to each other or to
avoid the brunt of its fatal pull. Using these skills, they can
infiltrate difficult to access locations, move objects at will, and
manipulate their enemies in the heat of battle. When you find
yourself in a sticky situation, it's always nice to have a Satellite
around to get you out of it at a moment's notice. The nature of
their abilities lends them well to criminal exploits, but they
can often be found using their powers for good, on the
battlefield or off. The acquisition of these powers is a closely
kept secret, so accidental discovery is typically how most
individuals become a Satellite.
Delay Descent
When you choose this archetype at 3rd level, you can use your
reaction when you fall to minimize the brunt of the blow. The
damage you take is halved, and you don't fall prone as a result
of it. Beginning at 9th level, you instead take no damage.
Gravity Leash
Starting at 3rd level, you can use your manipulation of the
force of attraction to draw creatures and objects together. As a
bonus action, choose a creature, a point on a solid surface, or
an object that isn't being worn or carried within 30 feet of you
that you can see. If the target is an object or creature, you can
pull it to the nearest unoccupied space within 5 feet of you, or
pull yourself to the nearest unoccupied space within 5 feet of
it, your choice.
You can't pull a creature or object towards you if it is more
than one size larger than you, and an unwilling creature must
succeed on a Strength saving throw to avoid being pulled
towards you (DC equal to 8 + your proficiency bonus + your
Intelligence modifier).
If the target is a point on a solid surface, you are pulled to
an unoccupied space within 5 feet of it, and can remain in that
space until the start of your next turn even if you would
normally fall.
Master of Mass
Beginning at 9th level, you gain the ability to make yourself
seem heavier or lighter as an action. This effect lasts for 1
hour, or until you end it as an action. If you make yourself
seem heavier, your weight multiplies by eight and you are
considered one size larger than normal for your Gravity Leash
feature. If you make yourself seem lighter, your weight is
reduced to one-eighth of normal and you are considered one
size smaller for your Gravity Leash feature.
Once you use this feature, you must finish a short or long
rest before you can use it again.
Gravity Bind
At 13th level, when you target an object or willing creature
with your Gravity Leash feature, you can instead have it pulled
to a point on a solid surface within 30 feet of you. By
concentrating on this effect (as if concentrating on a spell), you
can stop the target from falling if it normally would, instead
suspending it in place. This effect ends if you lose
concentration, if the target moves, or if you use your Gravity
Leash feature again.
Impact
Starting at 17th level, whenever you use your Gravity Leash
feature to pull yourself towards a creature, or successfully pull
a creature towards you, you can make one weapon attack
against them as an action. If the attack hits, you deal an
additional 2d6 damage for each 10 feet you or the creature
travelled, and the creature must succeed on a Strength saving
throw (DC equal to 8 + your proficiency bonus + your
Intelligence modifier) or be pushed up to 15 feet away from
you.
