Plaenor

Thorn of The Black Charcoal Rose

General Info

No cities throughout all of The Wraith Globe are darker or eerier than Plaenor, the Grand City of Death. Located in the Shadowfell nation of Ixthra in the mountain range on the northeastern end of the Main Continent, Plaenor is a city rarely visited by anyone who is not already trapped there. The entire city is a death trap, a place where people come to remain there for the rest of their lives and die. This is due to the massive field of Black Charcoal Roses that completely surround the city for nearly a square mile.

The Dark Field of Plaenor and The Black Charcoal Rose Trade

These fields of flowers are referred to simply as The Dark Fields of Plaenor. These flowers are the very representation of death itself but are extremely valuable as magical components in powerful spells and potions. The city itself reeks of death, literally and figuratively: The roads and houses of Plaenor constantly smell of death and roadkill. Those who linger in this town begin to age faster than average, making most of the inhabitants of Plaenor older than 50. The main trade that the city survives on are Black Charcoal roses, which are harvested daily, but the business is extremely deadly. the strong and sweet scent of the roses is strong enough to kill a full-grown man nearly instantly, This scent is also not affected by magic, so nonmagical equipment or a strong pair of lungs are needed to harvest the flowers successfully. The scent of a single Black Charcoal Rose is not strong enough to kill, making it ideal for potions and spells once it has been harvested successfully; However, even a single Black Charcoal Rose has the capacity to accelerate the aging of nearby mortal beings and to wither the flora surrounding it. These flowers must be handled with extreme caution.
