The Early Wraith War

The Early Wraith War is significant for two reasons: Firstly, it prompted a professional army for the Finite Races, and secondly, it unified the view of Viabaas as "The Lord of Lords"."

The Early Wraith War was the siege of Ansulf by the five remaining Fagnaor from 216 PG to 218 PG. After a two year siege, Viabaas with the help of his new weapon, Daemor, banished the Fagnaor and established a "Wraith Barrier" around the entire Material Plane using Daemor. "Ansulf was sieged by the 5 remaining Fagnaór, and the inhabitants of Ansulf were desperately trapped. The Committee of the Finite Races called a meeting and cried out to the Lords, but there was no answer. In desperation, all of the militaries of The Finite Races were thrown at the evil hoard. All of these brave souls were slaughtered, but they were not yet the dead... Their corpses became tainted by the Fagnaór‘s dark desires, which would lead to the creation of a new Finite Race... Ansulf was sieged for the next two years until Viabaas finally answered. He came with Daemor, the Wraith Slayer, and slaughtered the evil forces. Only the Fagnaór, two species of lower Wraiths, and three species of Spectres survived this onslaught. There Viabaas launched Daemor into the sky, where it transformed into a beautiful multicolored bird. He announced that his trusted weapon would act as a barrier for the Material Plane, through which no Wraith or Spectre could ever pass..."

The Early Wraith War is significant because of its title as the Finite Races' first war, and their first taste of combat. Before the Early Wraith War, Ansulf barely had a military force, but the Early Wraith War prompted a professional army for the entirety of the Finite Races. The Early Wraith War also represents the Finite Races' first face-to-face confrontation with Viabaas, The Lord of Angels. This encounter set up the view that the Finite Races had of Viaabas. To them, Viabaas was their savior and king, having rescued them from forces they could not overcome. Viabaas also, like any good ruler, set up his people for the future by protecting the entire Material Plane with Daemor. In the current day, Viabaas is a staple of culture across the continents. Many idioms and figures of speech in the Wraith Globe reference Viabaas.

The Conflict

Prelude

After the execution of Artukos, the Wraith Lord, the 5 exiled Fagnaór gathered their forces in secret over the course of 200 years. When Artukos was slain, his Wraith Spectre forces were scattered across Gearva, the Material Plane, or even the Far Realm on rare occasions! The 5 Fagnaors gathered these forces and marched on Ansulf the first city of the Finite Races, so they could destroy what the Lords loved most dearly.

Deployment

In desperation, Ansulf threw everything it had at its infernal opponents. All of these brave souls were slaughtered, but they were not yet the dead... Their corpses became tainted by the Fagnaór‘s dark desires, which would lead to the birth of The Olümias - The Tieflings, or Tieflings.
