The Kroltuc Records

The Draconic Drift is the great journey of the Dragonborn after being rebuked by the rest of the Finite Races, and was documented in the Kroltuc Records, written by the great Drakaras Kroltuc. The dragons came to the material plane and took over the main continent, but as the other Finite races starved and were eaten, the Dragonborn ironically prospered on the outer island of Corevia. However, the journey to make it to their quiet sanctuary was an ordeal that will forever scar the history books.

Purpose

It is a common Dragonborn tradition to pass down the experiences of each generation, however gruesome or horrific they are. For this reason, the leader of the Dragonborn that stepped forward to lead his people in the dangerous endeavor, Drarakas Kroltuc, followed this tradition, even if it meant that he had to sacrifice himself for those records.

Clauses

The record is carved into the sides of the very boats which the Dragonborn used to reach Corevia. This is not how Dragonborn historically recorded experiences, but they were left with nothing but a little food and a small fleet of fishing boats after being rebuked, so they used what they had. It is a common myth that Drakaras personally hung over the prow of each fishing boat to be as space-efficient as possible while writing. These boats which were used as a canvas are known as the famous Boats of Mortomare.

Publication Status

As Corevia is quite a private nation and only specifically invited people are allowed in, few are able to see The Boats of Mortomare in person.

Background

The Kroltuc Records definitely raised awareness about the true suffering of the Dragonborn. Sadly, this was very long after the fact, but it did help common folk understand the Dragonborn history that much more.

Legacy

The boats of Mortomare are a national treasure to the Dragonborn but are a humiliation to all the other Finite Races, as they rebuked the Dragonborn wrongly. They are kept under lock and key at Corevia, where few people have access.

Entry 1 - 1 day after the Dragonborn rebuking

I, Drakaras Kroltuc, am leading what is left of our people on a journey which will most likely be our demise. With only a small fleet of 25 fishing boats and minimal food supplies, we are left to survive out at sea and sustain ourselves. However, in front of these overwhelming odds, we all must persevere and support each other rather than ourselves, so we can continue to nurture this coming generation.

Entry 2 - 3 days after the rebuking

We have been adrift in this endless horizon of waves for 3 days now. I fear that a lack of food will soon be our people's end. However, I still have a sliver of hope that there may be a spit of land out here in the vastness of the ocean, no matter what the nautical charts say. Honestly, it is the only scrap of hope we have left.

Entry 3 - 4 days after the rebuking

Two of our fishing boats were sunk by a passing warship today. The anger within the hearts of our past kin is a complete mystery to me. Why do they think leaving us adrift in the sea will help the situation that ALL of us are in? Anyway, the fishing boats left have become increasingly crowded because of the survivors, but if I were to leave them, I would be no better than the people that us Dragonborn on this disastrous course.

Entry 4 - 7 days after the rebuking

I am writing this as hurriedly as I can, as for the last 2 days we have been surrounded by a swarm of reef sharks. There has been no chance to fish or forage for any local sea life, so I fear our numbers will dwindle if our luck keeps up like this.

Entry 5 - 8 days after the rebuking

Viaabas has smiled upon us! It seems that the reef sharks have found some other quarry and have moved off! I am more hopeful than ever that we might find refuge somewhere! I continue to try my best to boost the morale of my people and comrades, no matter how futile it may seem in the moment!

Entry 6 - 10 days after the rebuking

I have heard rumors among the people that we will never survive and this will be the end of the Dragonborn legacy. Nonsense! Sometimes I wonder how beings like us that are blessed with life from The One can have such backward thoughts in our minds?! It is simply ridiculous in my opinion! I will continue to strengthen and uphold my people as always!

Entry 7 - 15 days after the rebuking

Our food supplies have started to run low. For the past 3 days, there have been no fish in the area! The elderly Dragonborn have started to have malnutrition, but I will sacrifice everything I have to keep them alive!

Entry 8 - 18 days after the rebuking

We have had the first death. It is an extremely sad occasion, but we must push forward and continue to support each other through this difficult journey!

Entry 9 - 20 days after the rebuking

There have been 7 more deaths in the last two days. However, our fishermen have been able to find small groups of fish to sustain us. My hope in our survival is starting to waver.

Entry 10 - 21 days after the rebuking

Something strange has happened other than 6 more deaths among my beloved kin: seagulls have appeared above our fleet of small vessels. Could this mean we have found land, or that we have simply accidentally come full circle? Only in The One's time shall we know the truth.

Entry 11 - 22 days after the rebuking

We have stumbled across a small island on the horizon! Viabaas indeed has us under his wing! this will be my last entry in this record, and know that the legacy of the Dragonborn will not end here and that we will nurture a new generation!
