The Shipwreck of the Santaria
Within the Desert of Demise, the third layer of the dimensional plane Carceri, there are very few signs of civilized life. Apart from The Desert Dwellers of Carceri and the occasional wandering convict, only sand, dust and death lie within this planar hourglass. The only exception to this rule is the shipwreck of the Santaria, stranded and chained to the sands of the Desert of Demise. In a different age, the Santaria was a vessel captained by a legendary Planeswalker of the third era, used to sail across the Astral Sea to travel between the Planes.
History
It is somewhat unclear what exactly occurred to cause the Santaria to be in the decrepit state it is now. Some believe the captaining Planeswalker of the ship attempted to break an individual out of Carceri but became stranded. Others think that the appearance of the shipwreck in Carceri was a freak accident. However, one thing is for certain, the Wardens of Carceri allow the Shipwreck of the Santaria to stay where it is.
Points of interest
Due to the ship's original purpose, the Santaria is still full of ancient magical relics and mortal machinery from the Third Era, including its source of propulsion, means of dimensional travel, and various weapons possessed by the vessel's Planeswalker.
Architecture
Although it has lost its glamour, it is clear from even a single glance that the Santaria was once a grand ship, constructed from only the richest woods, strongest stones, and purest metals. Along with this, the beautiful carvings and art engrained among the ship's structure must have been a spectacle to behold in the vessel's prime.
Geography
The Santaria's hull is mostly in one piece and still anchored to the foundation of the Hourglass of the Desert of Demise, allowing it to survive the regular upheavals and reversals this plane of Carceri goes through. Due to its age, the shipwreck has been partially fossilized into the surface of the desert. Furthermore, the undead skeleton inhabitants of the wreck also have been partially fossilized into the walls of the hull and rooms of the Santaria.
