Physical Description

General Physical Condition

Ironsides appeares as a skeletal figure manufactured from a dark grey metal. The internal spaces of their frame glow with the same ochre light as his mechanical eyes. They often wear a heavy, long coat and tricorn hat.

Personal history

The records of the existence of epsilon-03 begin shortly after the Katiri Cataclysm. Following the eradication of all organic life from the island, they were one of the few remaining warforged in operable condition, and remains the only one to have spontaneously reactivated following the disaster. While initially trying to fulfill the primary mission of his production line, to protect Katiri's royal family, the futility of the directed was accepted after several centuries, freeing epsilon from any remaining attachment to the rotting principality.
epsilon-03 took control of a Katiri type-34 warship, and took to the seas away from the island, in search of a new purpose. For several decades after this, a series of ghost stories arose from seaside and fishing communities about a massive metal ship that would appear silently and without warning from a mysterious fog bank. They few brave souls who did not immediately run in terror tell of a giant skeleton fashioned from metal, glowing with an evil yellow light.
epsilon-03 roamed the waters off the coast of Thea for many years, observing the organic inhabitants of the continent when they happened across them, when they came uppon the remains of a shipwrecked pirate crew. in a rare moment of compassion they decided to give shelter to the few survivors. Though distrustful of the metal being at first, the new passengers soon came to accept epsilon-03, eventually convincing them to become a pirate like them, as the crews captain. After this, epsilon-03 was given the name Ironsides, and the ship renewed under the name The Anvil, after its unusual shape.

Lacking the possibility of fulfilling the primary motivation that he was made for, Ironsides has taken his pirate crew as his surrogate charge, working for their prosperity and general safety.

Ironsides often appears as cold and calculating to outside observers, seemingly taking no pleasure in the theft he and his crew make their livings from. Were one to ask a member of his crew, however, they believe in some hidden 'humanity' behind their captains metal face that shows itself in the small ways Ironsides cares for them, taking fastidious note of even the smallest details in order to have the crew run a peak efficiency and moral.
