Mortal Cataclysm

Requirements

For an individual to be considered a Mortal Cataclysm, they must be able to greatly change the political or geographic landscape through overwhelming, cataclysmic force. As such, the main candidates for the title tend to either be mages or monsters. Additionally, the individual must, at least in theory, be able to be killed.

Appointment

While not officially declared as such, an individual may become known as a Mortal Cataclysm when a sufficient number of people or governments recognize the individual as a potential direct threat to national, or ecological stability through sheep violence alone..

Grounds for Removal/Dismissal

They only way to theoretically revoke the title from an individual, aside from their death, is if the individual is no longer able to channel the power necessary to be considered a Mortal Cataclysm. This is only in theory, however, because to date, all known Mortal Cataclysms have died with their power intact, either from natural causes, combat, or other circumstances.

Cultural Significance

For anyone who gains the title Mortal Cataclysm, they can be expected to be met with fear wherever they go. To most of the inhabitants of Thea, the raw power held by those holding the title is nigh unfathomable, leading many to give the holder as wide a berth as possible. Due to this, most Mortal Cataclysms try to hide their destructive might, attempting to live a more normal life.

Notable Holders

The most famous individual to be known as a Mortal Cataclysm was the Tuatha de Dannan member Felanis Warmwind. At the height of his ability, and augmented by the Efreeti Gloves, it was said that he was able to turn the largest cities of his time into an uninhabitable crater should he decide. Two more members of the de Dannan gained the title for their ability to wreak mass destruction.   Several monsters have gained the title over the years, notably Charybdis, who hunts in the waters of the Katiri Sea, and the great red drake Grauligorn.
