Ankhet
A tropical town under the blazing sun. The familiar sounds of creaking ropes and singing birds, heavy barrels rolling across cobblestones-mingle with voices shouting and cursing in an unfamiliar language filled with clicks, inhalations, and singsongy words that make it sound almost musical. The aroma of unfamiliar spices and tropical fruit mixes with the smells of fish, tar, and canvas. Beyond all that, Ankhet is an explosion of color. Buildings are painted in bright shades of blue, green, orange, and salmon pink, or their walls are adorned with murals portraying giant reptiles and mythical heroes.
Every building sports baskets and clay urns of colorful flowers or is draped in leafy, flowering vines. Minstrels in bright clothing adorned with feathers and shells perform on street corners. Multicolored pennants and sun awnings flutter atop the town walls. A crowd of child rendressed in feathered hats and capes races past you, squealing in delighted terror as a street performer costumed as a big-toothed lizard stomps and roars behind them. The whole town seems to be bustling, sweating, laughing, swearing, and singing.
Home to Elana's Exotic Emporium, a unique place that not only stables the various mounts that find their way into Ankhet but also a purveyor of exotic friends, from the Rex Leonum to the Umbra Pantherae, these mounts will certainly cost you a little bit extra, but who wants a boring horse when you can ride into battle astride a giant cat that fades into the shadows.
The Den of Equity is a self-styled parlour run by Lady Magda. Women, boys, expensive food and drinks, this is where the wealthier denizens of Ankhet come to blow off steam. Situated in the centre of the Bazaar, it sees its fair share of traffic, merchants looking for a reprieve from Zir's relentless heat, tourists hoping to escape the cacophany of smells and noises that come alongside such a bustlingf market. Lady magda is a shrewd businesswoman, her establishment is garbed in the finest of furniture and silks, the most aromatic incense burns in every room, all in exchange for the services she provides. Coin begets coin.
The largest building, on an elevation, is the residence of Trade Prince Mustaph, commonly known as The Palace. Many attribute the constant success of a growth of Ankhet as a town of note to the Trade Prince, his Zhenatarim provide security, his deals ensure that goods are constantly available for those that need them. A collector of ancient artifacts, the merchants all know, to get an audience, one must provide something so tantalising that the Trade Prince will drop everything in order to meet.
