Gatekeeper of Twilight
The Gatekeeper of Twilight is one of the gods who make up the Alamarri pantheon. They are perceived as the watcher of Fade, though their exact role is ill-defined. Many have come up with justifications as they listen to the few stories that surround the Gatekeeper. Their gender also seems to change depending on the story.
The Gatekeeper of Twilight is also known as the Twilight Watcher, Keeper of Spirits, and Soulless One.

Personal history
"The Gatekeeper? A definitive story remains a mystery to us all, but we must hold faith. When an Avvar augur allows their apprentice to be possessed by a summoned spirit, the spirit helps to teach the mage how to control their magic with patience and kindness. When teaching is done, the mage must release the spirit through a ritual that involves burning an offering to the Gatekeeper and casting a taxing spell that usually requires a vial of lyrium to replenish one's strength. Weak mages unable to control their magic remain possessed and the Gatekeeper watches both spirit and man so neither soul becomes corrupted. If the spirit becomes filled with rage, pride or grief and if the mage is too weak, an abomination results. However, we are safe for the abomination will die in their sleep as the Gatekeeper will steal breath from both souls and end them both. When spirit crosses from Fade into flesh, it is the Gatekeeper who brings them. Never does the Gatekeeper ask for penitence or offerings, instead In some interpretations of stories, the Lady of the Skies asked for the souls of all the dead to be brought to her halls so she would never be alone. It is a common belief that the Lady of the Skies does not actually go to this hall, but instead has the Gatekeeper as her watcher over the place. Others take a view that perhaps the Gatekeeper was around when the Mountain Father made the world. That the Gatekeeper was shaped by the void and nothingness that existed before anything was truly there. Some further diverge as to whether this is more of a curse upon the Gatekeeper or more of a blessing. Needless to say, things are unclear and when we leave this world and go to the next we best hope that the Gatekeeper is kind and benevolent." — Avvar oral traditions surrounding the training of mages and the existence of the Fade.
