Lochlann Stones
Found on the isle of Brandal's Reach, a territory in Northeastern Ferelden, there exist stone monuments that have seemingly existed for hundreds, if not thousands of years. These simple stone were discovered by some Nevarran captain Lochlann whose ship crashed onto the island during brutal storms, a century before Ferelden had even considered unifying. Some tales tell that even after he left the island, he still felt their allure pulling at the back of his mind. After a decade of being away, he supposedly left in the middle of the night and took his entire crew and vessel back to the isle. Not a short voyage by any approximations, might I add. He was never seen again and his vessel never docked into any port from that day forward. Some claim that he and his crew now haunt the stones, protecting their secrets. Others believe that he was driven mad by the secrets to all of Thedas inscribed on them. I admit, I have visited them once and felt cold shivers down my body though it was mid-winter. Each seems to be marked with some sort of etchings, perhaps a language. If the stories were true of their unbridled madness, I did not dare to find out. This is one mystery I will unfortunately be leaving open. One thing that did always bother me is what if they were some remnants of the Tevinter magistrates. Best I don't find out.Found in In Pursuit of Knowledge: The Travels of a Chantry Scholar, by Ferdinand Genitivi
