Maker
"There was no wordThe Maker is the deity worshiped by the Chantry. While they believe that She is all-powerful and created all things, they also believe that She has turned away from them. This is the current belief because mankind's own faults have become so vile throughout Thedas.
For heaven or for earth, for sea or sky
All that existed was silence
Then the Voice of the Maker rang out
The first Word
And Her Word became all that might be." — Excerpt from the Chant of Light, Threnodies 5:1

Personal history
Is it said that long ago, the Maker created the Fade as Her first world. Her first children were the spirits of the Fade, which She made in her own image. However, She turned from them because they lacked a soul and could only imitate that which they saw. Dissatisfied with the result, the Maker left the Fade behind and created the world of Thedas. She gave life to this new world and separated it from the other world. From this, the spirits of the Fade grew to be envious of her mortal creations.
She loved the creations that populated this new realm since they had the divine spark within each one of them. These new creatures could dream and imagine, allowing their world to grow. However, it is believed that at some point, human malice poisoned her perfect, golden city and turned it black. In this way, She felt great despair but left behind both the Fade and Thedas. Her first children had no urge to create and Her second children created sin.
An unknown amount of time later, the Maker's first prophet rose to power and drove the barbarians of Thedas against the Tevinter Imperium. This prophet, known as Andraste, lead the First Exalted March, and freed the world from Tevinter's vile ways. Despite her vision, her husband eventually betrayed her and killed her.
As of the present day, the Maker has long since left the world. The Chantry teaches that one day, when the Chant of Light is sung from all the corners of the world, the Maker will finally return and transform the world into a paradise. Until that day, however, She only watches for those few who follow Andraste's teachings. When they die, the Maker brings them to her side. All others wander the Fade throughout eternity, forever lost to the Maker's sight.
