Nenzata

Nenzata, officially known as Campus di Negromanzia Avanzata (Vintic: Campus of Advanced Necromancy) and sometimes referred to as Nenzata Campus, is a Corgomuran Academy of Arcane school campus for advanced studies and scholarly research regarding Necromancy.

Assets

Nenzata is located in the Rivgrigia cliffside estate by the Gomuri Peninsula. Leased from the owner of the estate, Nenzata is housed in a haunted mansion; residual necromantic magic accumulated over time, which is itself a major topic of research. The mansion was, and still is, inhabited by several undead of varying forms, which help provide a unique insight into their condition, and even provide first hand accounts of historical events. According to the new lease negotiated in 1013, the lessee is the de-facto owner of the mansion and therefore is subject to any and all hauntings assosciated with owning the mansion.

Two ghosts actively assist with research: Beneta di Portoscali, a scholar in life, provides advice regarding research methods. Albizzo, claiming to be a necromancer in life, often provides unsolicited insight into spellcasting and necromancy in general;
occasionally, Albizzo might haunt a lecture hall and start a lecture. Said lectures must be attended by a member of the faculty, both in order to placate Albizzo and to record any new knowledge he might impart that was previously unknown by faculty members.

  • Canilli Abaro

    Another undead that inhabits Nenzata is the mohrg known in life as Canilli Abaro. A stablehand employed by House de Albveti, he was described as "... an ordinary man, even somewhat boring"; he was married to a housmaid named Sofia, and they had four children. Starting in 812, Canilli stalked and murdered young women that worked the estate; his first victim, Quirina Matelizi, was a housemaid with whom he had an affair; when Quirina threatened to tell Sofia of their affair, Cailli beat her to death left her body at the mansion's doorstep.   The same year, Canilli murdered another housemaid named Sofia Fioravanti, acting on the misguided belief that she was trying to seduce him. From then on, Canilli has "...grown quite fond of murdering young, weak, innocent women", by his own admission. In 815, Canilli kidnapped four women, sisters of the same family, and held them gagged in an unused basement; when the eldest sister's fiance looked for them in the stables, Canilli bashed his skull with a brick and left the corpse to be discovered in the morning.
    The screaming corridor; Canilli was immured in the bricked off archway to the left.
      Canilli, who was illiterate as far as most people knew, left a written note in the victim's pocket: "I suspect lord Domenico Albani had kindapped my beloved Veronica and her sisters"; he faked a trail of incriminating evidence, that led to Domenico Albani, a guest of House de Albveti, being accused, convicted, and hanged for the murder of the Cellini sisters and Veronica's fiance.
    My conscience is clear. I have nothing to atone for. They all deserved to die. My only regret is not realising she was joking.
    — Canilli's last words.
    His next victim, a male house servant by the name of Giuseppe Albergati, was murdered for unknown reasons; it is speculated that Canilli might have been possessed, or encouraged, by Smiling Kid when he drowned Giuseppe. Finally, in 817, his wife jokingly accused him of murdering each and every one of his victims; in response, Canilli stabbed her with a fireplace poker and pushed her out of a window, an act witnessed by over a dozen people.
      Canilli gladly confessed to all of his past crimes, despite not being accused of any of them; he was sentenced to immurement. While the masons laid the bricks, Canilli cursed and threatened passerby and witnesses; he kept screaming for several days, after which soft weeping was heard for a day, and finally there was silence. Some years later, he reanimated as a mohrg. Currently, some bricks may be removed to interview and inspect Canilli; though he is still chained to the backwall, his tongue can still slither out of the missing bricks and paralyze living creatures; therefore, removing and returning the bricks must be done by undead menials (such as skeletons or zombies) or via telekinetic spells.
