World Calendar

There are twelve months per year, each 30 days long. In addition, there are five holidays that fall between months (for a total of 365 days per year).

Deepwinter

  • Midwinter (Deepwinter 15th): A minor holiday to denote the point halfway through winter.

Winterwane

  • Winter-send: A holiday that falls between Winterwane and Springtide that celebrates the official end of winter, Winter-send is a time of rejoicing the end of the cold months and welcoming good fortune for the new sowing season.

Springtide

  • Spring Equinox (Springtide 20th)

Deepspring

  • Faerie's Day (Deepspring 1st): Something akin to April fool's day, originating from fey (via the elves and kitsune). The Church has never really approve of it due to its fey roots, but it's popular enough that they can do little to stop it.
  • Day of Peace (Deepspring 8th): The Day of Peace celebrates the official end to the War of Blood. While celebratory in nature, in southern Denuterra the Day of Peace is also considered solemn, as people remember all those who were lost in the war.

Springwane

  • Day of Light (Springwane 24th): The Day of Light historically celebrated the day that the One True God dispersed magic and gifted the Empire with peace. Now the holiday centers around the day magic faded away, and does not emphasize the role of any god.
  • Spring-send: A holiday that falls between the end of Springwane and the start of Summertide. Spring-send marks the end of spring and the beginning of summer, Spring-send is a romantic holiday most enjoyed by young couples. It usually involves giving flowers and dancing.

Summertide

  • Summer Solstice (20th)

Deepsummer

  • Day of Beasts (Deepsummer 10th): An orcish holiday celebrating Toth the beastslayer who supposedly drove out and destroyed the creatures that made the land unsafe (wyverns, drakes, chimeras, manticores, the wild dire boar, and so on, depending on who is telling the story). Celebrants wear animal masks, furs, claws, and so on. Occasionally beast-slaying events are also featured.

Summerwane

  • Summer-send: The holiday between the end of Summerwane and the beginning of Autumntide, Summer-send is a bright holiday celebrating the happiness that comes with summer and the coming harvests.

Autumntide

  • Autumn Equinox (Autumntide 20th)

Deepautumn

Autumnwane

  • Family Day (Autumnwane 18th): A halfling holiday that has spread to the other countries. It's a day to celebrate cherished family members.
  • Autumn-send: Autumn-send is a bittersweet holiday that falls between Autumnwane and Wintertide, where one acknowledges the good fortune they've had this year, while also considering the hardships to come during the winter months. It often involves the consumption of excessive amounts of freshly-made liquors (especially autumn ciders).

Wintertide

  • Winter Solstice (Wintertide 20th)
  • New Years: The official New Years celebration falls between Wintertide and Deepwinter.
