The faithful of Degelys ply the waves across the world, and trek the icy tundras where she was born. They take the roles of traders and guides, captains and merchants, and can be found in every corner of the world that commerce has touched.

Mortal Life

Once a trader of indeterminable race, Degelys lived and plied her trade along the southern coast of Algida. She traveled across both the sea and the icy tundra, until she knew every crest and dune of each as if they were old friends. She navigated the dangers in each landscape with practiced familiarity, fighting off storms and dragons and giants.

But one day she sailed, her ship full of precious cargo: families eager to start new lives in another land. That night, a great storm pushed her vessel into the path of a great ice floe. With all her expertise, Degelys was able to narrowly avoid the iceberg, so it only battered and damaged the ship. The ship and its passengers were saved, but during the collision several members of the crew, including Degelys, were lost into the cruel ocean. The vessel, crippled in the water, had no chance of making it to port. And yet, in spite of all odds, the currents turned, and pushed the ship ahead of them. For seven days and seven nights the remaining crew and passengers were helpless as their boat was carried along by the waves, until they were pushed ashore at sunrise on the eighth day, a mere two miles from their original destination.

The remaining crew knew it had been Degelys who had protected and guided them even after death, as she had in life. They became her first faithful, and the repaired ship was her first church, carrying faith and goods across the seas.
